How to increase photo size in KB when a form says “at least 20 KB”

Some forms reject files that are too small, not just too big. If a form says your photo or signature must be at least 10, 20 or 50 KB, this is how to raise the size properly.

Quick answer

Save the image as a JPG at a higher quality setting: that raises the size in KB without changing the pixels. If the form allows a larger pixel size, resizing up to it adds KB too. Start from the original image, don’t pad the file with borders or blank space, and don’t enlarge a tiny image a lot, which only makes it blurry.

Why forms set a minimum size

A minimum size is a rough quality check. A photo or signature that weighs only a few KB has usually been compressed so hard that faces and strokes are hard to make out, so the form refuses it before anyone has to look.

Why your file is too small

  • Few pixels. A signature at 140 × 60 pixels has very little to store, so it can easily come out under 10 KB.
  • Heavy compression. An app or website saved it at a low quality setting.
  • A very plain image. White paper with a few dark strokes compresses to almost nothing.
  • It was shrunk twice. Each pass through a messaging app or compressor makes it smaller and softer.

Raise the JPG quality

Go back to the original photo or scan, not the copy that’s already too small, and save it as a JPG at a higher quality, such as 90–95%. Higher quality keeps more detail, and more detail means more KB. The pixels stay exactly the same, so the file still meets the form’s pixel rule.

Use the full pixel size the form allows

If the form gives a range of pixels, or only a size rule, a larger image within the limits holds more detail and more KB. Resize from the original down to that size; never stretch a small image up to it, because enlarging only adds blur.

Use a tool that aims for a range

Increase image size in KB takes the minimum (and maximum, if there is one) and saves the image inside that range, in your browser, without uploading it. For signatures, Signature resize sets the pixels and the size range together.

What not to do

  • Don’t add borders or blank space. It changes the pixel size and can get the photo refused by the person checking it.
  • Don’t enlarge a tiny image a lot. It gains KB but looks blurred.
  • Don’t rely on the DPI setting. Changing DPI doesn’t change the file size in any useful way.
  • Don’t rename the file. Changing .png to .jpg doesn’t convert it.

Photo ka size kaise badhaye

Agar form kehta hai ki photo ya signature kam se kam 20 KB ka hona chahiye, to original photo ko JPG me zyada quality (90–95%) par save karein. Isse pixels wahi rehte hain par size KB me badh jata hai. Photo ke chaaron taraf border ya khali jagah na jodein, aur chhoti photo ko bahut bada na karein.

Questions people ask

How do I increase photo size from 10 KB to 20 KB?

Re-save the original image as a JPG at a higher quality, such as 90–95%, or use a tool that saves it inside your range. The pixels stay the same.

How do I increase my signature size to 20 KB?

Scan or photograph the signature again, keep the pixels the form asks for, and save it at a high JPG quality. If it is still under 20 KB, use a tool that targets the range.

Does increasing the size in KB improve the quality?

Only if you start from the original. Re-saving an already blurry copy at a higher quality makes the file bigger but not sharper.
